Elaine Barnes
Clay

Elaine Barnes is an accomplished glass/clay artist and painter. She often integrates these media to make her unique artistic statement. Her award winning work has been displayed in shows and galleries in Tennessee as well as Georgia and Florida.

Most of her clay work is raku fired. The spontaneity of this process keeps each firing exciting. Loosely translated, raku means happy surprise. It is always a thrill to see the piece for the first time and find out what the fire, smoke and other variables have created.

Elaine takes workshops often with local artists as well as planning at least one trip per year to learn from artists in other areas and regions. As a result, she developed an interest in working with glass. She often embellishes her clay work with stained glass, agate or fused glass.
