I've been working as a professional clay artist since 1978 after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Master of Science Degree in Ceramics. My recent work reflects my continued interest in color, texture and function. Color is very important for my personal well-being. Therefore, I continue to experiment with bright glazes that flow into each other. My imagery is gleaned from my travels and Tennessee surroundings; whimsical images of animals and universal patterns in nature. Function is also an important aspect of my clay work, thus glazes are lead-free and the clay is a durable white stoneware. If my work has a sense of humaneness and provides pleasure, then I feel rewarded.
