Brenda W. Mills is an honors graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee where she also resides. Brenda has studied under Professors Clark Stewart, Walter Stevens, Whitney Leland and Carl Sublett. "I didn't actively start painting in watercolor until I took a watercolor class taught by Betsy Worden. I painted for a couple of years with Betsy's group refining my style. It was during that time that I discovered how much I loved the medium." After taking several other watercolor classes offered through the Tennessee Artists Association, Brenda was accepted into The Art Market Gallery where she actively serves on the board of directors, the Display Committee and the Fundraising Committee. She is also a member of the Oak Ridge Art Center, the Knoxville Watercolor Society where she serves as Publicity Chair, the Tennessee Watercolor Society, The Kentucky Watercolor Society and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City.
"Commissioned paintings occupy a great deal of my time. I enjoy the challenge of the projects, the chance to meet new people and the travel opportunities that some jobs entail. Experiences from my travels, particularly in the people I come in contact with, have a great deal of influence on my paintings. Exploring the human form and expressing the many images of life offer a rich diversity for experimentation in color, texture, and form."
