I have a deep appreciation for nature and it's beauty. The aspects
that I love most about nature are the repetitive flowing lines in all
organisms. The most enriching thing I enjoy is walking through the
forest. When I'm walking through the forest, certain areas have a
sense of enchantment and purity. I enjoy creating jewelry that
celebrates the beauty of the forest.
I don't want to preserve nature with my jewelry by making exact
replicas. I rather extract aspects of nature that I love most, such as
color and form. I then use these and exaggerate them so much that I
still feel inspiration from the original objects. But to people that
view the jewelry, it can be translated to have a new meaning that is
special to them.
All of my jewelry is created with the following materials. Argentium™
Sterling Silver, a 92.5% pure alloy of silver which is "virtually
tarnish free". I also use traditional Sterling Silver, and Fine
Silver. The stones are a variety of faceted natural stones and
beads. Bright colors found in some of the pieces are enamel, which is
fused glass on a backing of fine silver.
I studied the art of jewelry metalsmithing at the Appalachian Center
for Craft in Smithville, TN. There I achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree from Tennessee Technological University in Spring
2006. Currently living in Kingston, TN, I enjoy developing new jewelry
designs and creating them in my studio.
